Peter’s technique is self taught and continues to evolve with each piece. It is the fruit of many years of experimentation with an array of paints and tools. He now paints primarily with acrylics and uses a variety of palette knives and spatulas to scrape layers of viscose paint on to large woods panels. The result is unique with its own identity and personality.
His natural talent is evident in his ability to capture and communicate the subtleties of daily life. His strong connection to people is reflected in the combination of strength and vulnerability in the faces of his portraits.
Peter’s commentary on current events and political statements are interpreted through his work. As an avid advocate for peace, he uses his work to expose injustice in the world. Occasionally he incorporates newspaper print into his work which allows him to “paint over the bad news” with beautiful images forcing us to see the world through a different prism.
